PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PDP that a brightness and efficiency can be improved without increasing Xe content in used gas. SOLUTION: The display panel has a front substrate and rear substrate facing each other, a pair of transparent electrodes formed on a plane facing to the front substrate, a metal electrode formed on each of the transparent electrodes, a dielectric layer covering the transparent electrode and metal electrode, a protection film applied on the dielectric layer, an address electrode formed on a plane facing to the rear substrate, a dielectric layer covering the address electrode, a partition formed on the dielectric layer, a discharge cell separated by the partition, a phosphor layer applied in the discharge cell, wherein the position of the metal electrode on the transparent electrode satisfies d<h/4, when d is a distance to the center of the metal electrode from the discharge region between a pair of transparent electrodes, and h is the distance between the edges of a pair of electrodes.
