PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature controller and a microscopic base with which an observation object is observed at a desired temperature by efficiently controlling temperatures of the observation object in observing the observation object. SOLUTION: The temperature controller 30 is constituted so that a heat conductive elastic body 37 may be pressed and held between a presser plate 41 and a holder plate 34. Thus, a part of the elastic body 37 can project toward the observation object S from an aperture part 34a. By making a bar-like member 40 flat, the contact area of the elastic body 37 with that of the member 40 is increased, and working space required in taking out or setting the observation object in the midst of observation is widened, because the rate of the thickness of the member 40 to a distance between the observation object S and the objective of a microscope is made small in utilizing the microscope for observation.
