PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a chemical substance adsorbing material obtained by using charcoal which exhibits high adsorptivity both to acid and basic organic solvents even if a catalyst is not deposited on this adsorbing material. SOLUTION: The adsorbing material is manufactured by burning and carbonizing bamboo at 650-900°C, mixing 70-90 wt.% bamboo charcoal fine powder obtained by crushing the carbonized bamboo into fine powder having 5-10μm average particle size, 5-15 wt.% clayey inorganic substance and 5-10 wt.% binder resin and molding the obtained mixture into a honeycomb structure.
