PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine, having a filter device in the midway of a drain passage and facilitating maintenance for a lint filter. SOLUTION: This filter device 30 includes: a filter case in which water sent from an outer bin 10 flows; and a filter member 32 inserted in the filter case 31 to capture lint contained in water flowing in the filter case 31. An insert pipe 34 extended upward on this side is projected from the front wall 31B of the filter case 31. The filter member 32 is elongated and the filter member 32 is passed from a filter insert port 35 formed on the front end part of the insert pipe 34, whereby the filter member 32 can be disposed in the filter case 31 through the insert pipe 34. The filter member 32 is disposed in the filter case 31 through the insert pipe 34.
