992, 848. Washing machine controls. MAYTAG CO. Feb. 21, 1962 [March 27, 1961], No. 6712/62. Heading D1A. [Also in Divisions B5 and H2] A process timer e.g. for controlling a washing machine comprises a timer motor 12 which drives a cycle controlling cam stack 10 and a cam stack 40-44 which actuates switches 40a-44a. An additional high speed motor 13 controlled by a solenoid 60 has a rotor which is normally biased by a spring 18 so that the spindle 25 closes a switch 23, 24 in the circuit of the motor 12. A series of push buttons 41c-44c each corresponding to a particular point of the control cycle are associated with corresponding switches so that on depression of a push button the solenoid 60 is energized and the motor 13 rapidly drives the cam stack through the gear train 16 until the corresponding switch 41a-44a is closed. An additional control cam 71 and corresponding push button are provided to allow rapid advance of the cam stack for the period determined by the rise of the cam 71.
|
