1,018,348. Fuel cells. SIEMENS-SCHUCK. ERTWERKE A.G. June 19, 1964 [June 19, 1963], No. 25584/64. Heading H1B. A fuel cell uses a loose catalyst of, or deposited on a ferro-magnetic material which is caused to contact the electrodes by magnetic forces. The catalyst may move physically between the electrode and the electrolyte to pick up more adsorbed reagent. The use of formic acid, ethanol or hydrogen is disclosed and the catalysts include iron, iron oxide, nickel cobalt and silver carried by iron or nickel. Nickel on aluminium oxide may also be used. As shown, permanent magnets 20 attract the catalyst to electrodes 18, 19 and the fuel and oxidant are added in regeneration vessels 14. |
