Coded signals recorded on perforated or magnetic tape or card 29 is stated to be read in binary code at 30, converted to decimal code at 31, and to analogue form at 26 to be compared at 27 with the outputs of coarse and fine synchros 22, 41 to produce an error signal energizing a motor 20 driving the leadscrew 6.
