Compositions and methods comprising reagents that bind to the protein TWEAK, and the use of TWEAK binding reagents to block the development of immunologic disorders is disclosed. Particularly disclosed is a use of TWEAK blocking antibody against the TWEAK ligand or receptor and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier in the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition for blocking the development or treating or reducing the severity or effect of an immune disorder in an animal.
