FIELD: handling environmentally hazardous materials. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed facility for shipment and/or storage of explosive, radioactive, and toxic cargo has container and shock absorbers. Container covers and walls are shielded by external and internal shells that have alternating metal and heat-resistant rubber layers with holes. Inner surface of internal shell and outer surface of external shell are covered with swelling fire-proof material layers. Space between covers, walls, and internal shell of container communicates through nonreturn valves with internal space of container. Container cover has pressure-reducing valve with filter that functions to equalize gage pressure inside container with ambient pressure. ^ EFFECT: enhanced reliability of handled cargo protection under normal operating conditions and in emergency situations. ^ 1 cl, 2 dwg |
