The process involves generating a restricted list of networks that contains networks present in a region where a mobile terminal operates. A network is selected from the restricted list of networks based on a level of predefined priority. A cell of a network selected previously in a list of real frequency carriers of each network is searched, where the real frequency carrier of each network is stored in the mobile terminal. An independent claim is also included for an itinerant multimode communication terminal provided in a zone covered by public land mobile network.
