The apparatus has a control module (5) connected to graphic displays (6, 7). A semi transparent strip (8) is inserted obliquely between the displays. The module is adaptable in a configuration in which the display (6) is active to display a test pattern while display (7) is switched off and in another configuration in which the display (6) is switched off and the display (7) is active to display test figures.
