To detect the presence of corrosion at a carbon steel structure (2), induced by microbiological attack, two steel or carbon electrodes are used as an anode and a cathode. A current is passed between the two electrodes, with a monitor to measure the current and/or the difference in potential between the electrodes. A probe (1), with a carbon steel surface, is attached to the structure by an electrical insulation or contact, with electrical power supply cables (102, 103). The probe head (14) carries the anode (A), and the probe acts as the cathode.
|
