Oral pharmaceutical products containing 17beta-estradiol-3-lower alkanoate, method of administering the same and process of preparation

Disclosed is a pharmaceutical dosage unit for oral administration to a human female comprising a therapeutically effective amount of 17B-estradiol-3-acetate and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, wherein the percent moisture of the dosage unit is less than or equal to 8%. Also disclosed is the use of 17B-estradiol-3-lower alkanoate for the preparation of a dosage unit wherein the dosage unit is prepared for oral administration. The dosage units are used in methods of providing contraception by administration to human females of child bearing age.
