PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxetane resin having good adhesiveness, surface hardness and the like, to provide a method for producing the same, to provide a composition comprising the oxetane resin, and to provide a cured product. SOLUTION: This oxetane resin is represented by the general formula (1) and obtained from the polyaddition reaction product of a dicyclopentadiene represented by formula (1) [R<SB>1</SB>is H or a 1 to 4C alkyl; (n) is the positive number of 0 to 5] with phenol. It is usable for a cationically photocurable and a cationically thermocurable compositions. A cured product produced by irradiating the composition containing the compound with active energy rays has a high refractive index, excellent curability, excellent heat resistance, excellent flame retardancy, and excellent mechanical characteristics, and can be used for paints, coatings, adhesives, lenses, and the like.
