PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antimicrobial inorganic oxide microparticle producible at a low cost and exhibiting desired antimicrobial effects with a small amount of an antimicrobial metal component. SOLUTION: The antimicrobial inorganic oxide microparticle is obtained by coating the surface of an inorganic oxide microparticle such as titanium oxide, silica or alumina having an average particle diameter within the range of 0.01-10μm with a silica-alumina layer containing the antimicrobial metal component. The amount of the silica-alumina layer containing the antimicrobial metal component is 0.1-100 pts. wt. based on 100 pts. wt. of the inorganic oxide microparticle. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
