Methods of treating fat metabolism disorders

A method of determining whether a subject is suffering from or at risk for developing a disorder in fat metabolism. The method includes providing a sample from the subject and determining a G_salpha expression level in the sample. If the G_salpha expression level in the sample is different from that in a sample from a normal subject, it indicates that the subject is suffering from or at risk for developing a disorder in fat metabolism. Also disclosed are a method of identifying a compound for treating a disorder in fat metabolism, and a method and a composition for treating such a disorder.
