<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insertion supporting system easily returning to a navigation and surely supporting the insertion of an endoscope. <P>SOLUTION: In insertion supporting screen 51, a renavigation position marker 100 which indicates a return branch point starting a renavigation for returning, when a branch point is lost during an insertion, is marked in the lower part of an appropriate branch thumbnail VBS image.
