<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve humidity control capacity by reducing time until the humidity of indoor air reaches a target value in a humidity control unit for ventilating the indoor and adjusting humidity. <P>SOLUTION: In a casing 10 of the humidity control unit, a humidity sensor 2 for detecting the relative humidity of indoor air RA is provided near an indoor side suction opening 15. In the humidification operation of the humidity control unit, starting operation is made for increasing the amount of supply of second air to the indoor as compared with the amount of exhaust of the first air to the outdoor. Therefore, during starting operation, indoor pressure becomes higher than outdoor pressure, and the inflow of outdoor air OA from the outdoor to the indoor is prohibited. Conversely, when the detection value of the humidity sensor 2 reaches a specified reference value during starting operation, the starting operation is switched to normal operation.
