<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain ultra-high pressure fluid by raising the pressure resistance of a pressure vessel without requiring such high processing accuracy as in shrink fitting, nor excessively increasing the thickness of a cylinder wall itself. <P>SOLUTION: In a high pressure generating device 1 including a pressure accumulation chamber 3 and a plurality of plunger pumps 2, 5, discharged fluid from the plunger pump 5 at the preceding stage is introduced to the pressure accumulation chamber 3 and then sucked into the plunger pump 2 at the succeeding stage, so as to intensify the pressure of the fluid successively. In each of the plunger pumps 2 at the second and subsequent stages including a cylinder 21 and a reinforcement cylinder 23 arranged on the outer periphery of the cylinder 21, a low pressure chamber 26 is provided between the cylinder 21 and the reinforcement cylinder 23. The pressure accumulation chamber 3 includes a cylinder 31 and an outer member 32 arranged on the outer periphery of the cylinder, and a low pressure chamber 37 is provided between the cylinder 31 and the outer member 32. The fluid discharged from the plunger pump at the preceding stage is introduced to the low pressure chamber 37, and the fluid discharged from the plunger pump at the succeeding stage is introduced to the cylinder.
