<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste treatment method which enables a reduction in the consumption quantity of energy from the outside required in the treatment of waste using the unused energy possessed by waste itself in the treatment of waste. <P>SOLUTION: In the waste treatment method for composting excess sludge S1 through a dehydration process 2 and a drying process 4, a biogas G1 is taken out by subjecting the excess sludge S1 and organic waste much in moisture content to methane fermentation in a bio-gasifying process 6 while the methane fermentation treated sludge S4 discharged from the bio-gasifying process 6 is dehydrated in a dehydration process 2 and the dehydrated sludge S2 obtained in the dehydration process 2 is dried in a drying process 4.
