PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image scanner which can promptly and surely read originals with various kinds of size by a sheet through system, an image forming apparatus, an image reading method and an image forming method. SOLUTION: The image scanner has: an automatic original feeding part which feeds the originals; a reading part which reads image information of the originals; a recording part which develops the image information in a memory area, makes the image information into a file and records it in a device; and a control part which performs control so that when original size is not given in the case of fixing the reading part and reading its image information while feeding the originals by the automatic original feeding part and when the reading part reads a part of the originals, provisional size is determined based on the part of the originals, a memory area is secured in accordance with the provisional size and the image information is developed, the image information is made into a file by the size of the image information obtained at the time of reading all pieces of the image information and the image information is record the device.
