PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus having excellent image quality by solving the problem that deviation occurs at a reading seam portion of a composite image. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus is provided with a plurality of reading sensors 3 for dividing an original 11 in a carrying direction FD to read the original; a first roller 1 for feeding the original 11 to the reading sensors 3; a second roller 2 for discharging the original 11 from the reading sensors 3; first and second pressing rollers pressed on the first roller 1 and the second rollers 2, respectively; and a stepping motor (driving means) for rotating the first roller 1 and the second roller 2, by rotating the first and second pressing rollers. In this apparatus, the reading sensors 3 are each provided with a first reading sensor 31 and a second reading sensor 32, the both are provided at a distance L, and the external circumferential lengths of the first and second pressing rollers are each a positive integer multiple of the distance L.
