PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pipe joint capable of easily positioning a packing for eliminating a clearance between a female body and a male body, and eliminating the difference in level between the female body and the male body to a degree not creating problems. SOLUTION: This pipe joint is composed of the female body 1, the packing 7 fitted in a step part 4 formed on an inner peripheral face of the female body 1, and a male body 11 having an inner diameter same as a small-diameter part 5 at a depth side with respect to the step part 4. When the male body 11 is inserted and connected with a large-diameter part 6 at an opening side with respect to the step part 4, a tip end part of the male body 11 compresses the packing 7. An inner diameter of the packing 7 before the connection with the male body 11 is larger than an inner diameter of the small-diameter part 5, a maximum outer diameter of the packing 7 is agreed with the inner diameter of the step part 4, and a relief 8 in compression is formed at an outer peripheral side of the packing 7.
