PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extension type silencer capable of being miniaturized to the minimum size by eliminating an inefficient space unable to obtain efficient noise reduction effect in a silencer main body having a flat cross sectional shape. SOLUTION: When inner face diameterϕ1 of an upstream side exhaust pipe 2 and a downstream side exhaust pipe 3 is 1 and dimensional ratio of the inner face diameterϕ1 to height H1 of the inside of the silencer main body 1 at a position where the upstream side exhaust pipe 2 is connected is 1:1.5, dimension of each part is set in such a way that length W obtained by adding 1 which is the inner face diameterϕ1 of the upstream side exhaust pipe 2 to length w up to an inner face of the upstream side exhaust pipe 2 and an inner face of a side wall of the silencer main body 1 close to the upstream side exhaust pipe 2 becomes dimensional ratio of 1.25.
