PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fingerprint authentication device for locking/unlocking which registers and deletes fingerprint data easily without using keys or a keyboard and without lowering the security. SOLUTION: The fingerprint authentication device comprises a control section 40 for storing and registering fingerprint data of a finger 35 detected by a fingerprint sensor 18 in a storage part 41 and for erasing the registered fingerprint data, and a registration/erasing circuit 34. The registration/erasing circuit 34 has a mode changeover section 39 for changing over the control section 40 to a registration mode or a full erasing mode according to an initial operational state of an operation switch 26, for changing over from the registration mode to an erasing mode according to the operation of the operation switch 26 or from the erasing mode to the registration mode according to the operation of the operation switch 26.
