PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tatami mat heater with a sheet heating element having a thermostat, a lead wire and an electrode terminal protrusively provided, wherein damage to the flexibility and mechanical strength of a tatami mat is avoided and which is thin in total thickness and lightweight and is hardly deformed. SOLUTION: In this tatami mat heater which is equipped with at least a tatami facing, the sheet heating element and a heat insulating material, the sheet heating element, one side of which has a protrusively provided part, a cushion material with a hole or an opening, which can penetrate the protrusively provided part, a plastic plate with a recessed groove wherein the protrusively provided part can be housed via the cushion material, and the heat insulating material are laminated in this order.
