PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original reader which has remarkably simple structure and in which an FFC (flexible flat cable) can effectively be prevented from winding to a reading means. SOLUTION: The original reader is provided with: an original placing table 2 having contact glass 21 on which an original is placed; the reading means 3 which is stored in a cabinet 1 and reads the original positioned on contact glass 21; and the FFC 4 connecting the reading means 3 to a connector 5 arranged in the cabinet 1, wherein the FFC 4 is disposed horizontally on a contact glass 21 face. The FFC4 is provided with a plurality of conductors 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 and 66 arranged side by side in a plane shape by leaving desired intervals, an insulative coated layer 7 coating the conductors 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 and 66 and a bonding layer 8 bonding the conductors 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 and 66 with the coated layer 7. Thickness of the conductors 63 and 64 being a part of the conductors 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 and 66 is formed thick along a length direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
