PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove a defective paper sheet from a main paper stream without missing at need in an apparatus for conveying a paper sheet onto stacked paper sheets. SOLUTION: This apparatus for conveying a paper sheet onto stacked paper sheets includes: a conveying member for holding a paper sheet in the case of conveying the sheet in the main paper stream; a control member for dropping the paper sheet from the conveying member onto the stacked paper sheets; and a second control member for deflecting a defective paper sheet from the main paper stream to the auxiliary paper stream, wherein devices 26, 28; 52, 53 for cutting the defective paper sheets 23, 24, 51 are disposed in the auxiliary stream.
