PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a threshing machine having improved screening performance and returning capacity for tailings. SOLUTION: This threshing machine is provided with a nearly vertical tailings return chamber 40 having a tailings treating cylinder 37 rotatably supported at one side of a threshing chamber 31 having a rotatable threshing cylinder 29, and a shaking sorter 36 placed under the threshing chamber 31 and the tailings return chamber 40. A winnower 42 for sending screening wind from the upstream side in the wind sending direction, a clean grain screw 45 for recovering clean grains and a tailings screw 46 for recovering tailings are placed under the shaking sorter 36.
