<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a semiconductor laser that can reduce an influence of relaxation oscillation of a semiconductor laser, increase the rising speed of light emission by a large amount and realize high-frequency modulation. <P>SOLUTION: This method is used to emit a light in a semiconductor laser diode via a drive circuit and includes a first step of applying a first drive current to a semiconductor laser diode from the drive circuit and a second step to apply a second drive current to the semiconductor laser diode from the drive circuit thereafter. The first optical output, corresponding to the first drive current, is superimposed on the second optical output corresponding to the second drive current, and the obtained result is outputted as a one-pulse optical output, and the second optical output rises at the rising part, peak part or the falling part of the first optical output. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
