PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize charging of a battery of each of various type devices by one charger by applying to various type portable devices, such as, for example, a video camera, a PDA, a notebook-sized personal computer. SOLUTION: The charger obtains data necessary for charging from the battery 1, and charges the battery 1 by setting a power for charging relating to a power source V1 for charging based on the data.
