METHOD FOR DESIGNING CUSTOM CIRCUIT DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a design procedure for enabling the further efficient use of interconnection resources. SOLUTION: This method for designing a custom circuit device 100 begins with a high level architecture of subsystems coupled by virtual wires. A first step comprises the spatial arrangement of the subsystems to tiles 102. A second step comprises the routing of the virtual wires that cross boundaries of the tiles to an interconnect architecture 104. The interconnect architecture comprises switches and registers. Some of the switches transfer signals from a first subsystem located on a first tile to a second subsystem located on a second tile. At least two of registers consecutively latch the signal at a time interval of no more than a repeating time period. The third step comprises the scheduling of tasks according to clock cycles.
