PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve generation of rattling of a seat lock assembly and shaking of a seat and generation of noise when a striker and a latch are returned to an original position in a lock device for a vehicle seat for fixing a vehicle seat detachable relative to a vehicle body and a vehicle seat turned or rotated/moved relative to the vehicle body. SOLUTION: In the lock device for the vehicle seat, the seat lock assembly 5 constituted by providing a base plate 10 having a striker intrusion groove 11 provided on the vehicle body 4 and intruded with the striker 6; a latch 12 having a U shape engagement groove 16 provided on the base plate 10 and engaged with the striker 6; and a rachet 20 for restricting rotation in an unlock direction of the latch 12 is provided on the vehicle seat movably provided relative to the vehicle body 4 and is fixed to the vehicle body 4. The latch 12 is rotatably and pivotally supported to the base plate 10 by a latch shaft 13 and a rachet engagement surface 24 engaged with a latch abutting surface 22 of the rachet 20 is formed on an outer periphery of the latch 12. The latch abutting surface 22 is formed on a slant surface departing more from the rachet shaft 21 pivotally supporting the rachet 20 as it is separated from the rachet engagement surface 24.
