PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a canned linear motor armature and a canned linear motor wherein dielectric breakdown does not occur even if its coolant is pure water or water and temperature rise in the can portion and the like can be reduced as much as possible. SOLUTION: A stator 100a comprises: enclosures 101a so formed that armature winding 108 is encircled therewith like a picture frame; a winding fixing frame 109a so formed that it seals the openings in the enclosures 101a and holds both the side faces of the enclosures 101a and the armature winding 108; picture frame-like enclosures 101b that sandwich the winding fixing frame 109a between them and are provided at both the side faces of the enclosures 101a; the can 102a that seals the openings in the enclosures 101b; and a coolant passage 110a formed in the space encircled with the winding fixing frame 109a, enclosures 101b; and can 102a. These members are joined together by a can fixing bolt 103 that penetrates a retaining plate 104, the can 102a, enclosures 101b, winding fixing frame 109a, and enclosures 101a to form an armature.
