PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating agent for thermal spray coating, enabling the stable thermal spray coating to be formed over a long period even under a severe condition. SOLUTION: The coating agent for the thermal spray coating, usable for treating the surface of the thermal spray coating constituted of a metal and a fluorinated pitch contains a silane-based compound. The silane-based compound may have a group condensable by hydrolysis, and is exemplified by a (1-6C alkyl)tri(1-4C alkoxy)silane.
