There is provided a device for communication by data transmission with and without directivity and capable of lowering the possibility of failure in reception demodulation and preventing deterioration of the transmission efficiency by re-transmission. The device includes a gain control signal multiplexing unit (203) which performs time-division multiplexing of the directional transmission signal and the gain control signal. A transmission level control unit (204) controls the transmission power level so that the transmission power level of the gain control signal is at a transmission power level smaller than the transmission power level of the directional transmission signal and at a reception power level greater than the reception power level of the non-directional transmission signal at the reception side. Furthermore, the transmission level control unit (204) controls the transmission power so that the transmission power level of the directional transmission signal is at a reception power level greater than the reception power level of the non-directional transmission signal and the reception power level of the gain control signal at the reception side.
