摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for driving a plasma display panel (PDP). SOLUTION: A plurality of subfields for executing time division grayscale display by each frame as a display period exist in the PDP formed with discharge cells in regions where address electrode lines exist to intersect with sustain electrode line pairs alternately lined up and arrayed with X-electrode lines and Y-electrode lines. The Y-electrode lines Y are sustained at a reference level GND in a reset period PR and a sustain discharge period PS by each of the respective subfields. In an address period PA, a scan signal of the reference level GND is sequentially applied to the Y-electrode lines Y while the Y-electrode lines Y are held biased V<SB>SCAN</SB>at the first level, by which addressing is performed. As a result, an insulating element used for electrical insulation of a scan control signal applied to a scan drive integrated circuit is eliminated; the circuitry of the scan electrodes is simplified; and the yield in mass production is increased.
