PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily confirm a menu selected by the user in transition of a menu screen. SOLUTION: Stream data of an optical disk 10 are read by a disk drive unit 20, the image of a sub-video (menu screen) and a highlight image corresponding to this are overlapped in a sub-video decoding unit 33. Also, in a video processing unit 35, main video data and a sub-video containing the highlight image overlapped in the unit 33 are overlapped, and the overlapped image is outputted to an A/V output unit 60. While switching from some menu screen to the subsequent menu screen is completed, the image of a menu screen which has been outputted immediately before the switching is continuously outputted.
