PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device wherein a failure in cutting a substrate is suppressed, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In this organic EL display device, an element substrate 10 and a counter substrate 20 are disposed face to face. The organic EL display device is equipped with a water catching material storage part 21 provided in the display region of the counter substrate 20, a first projecting part 25 provided so as to surround the water catching material storage part 21, a second projecting part 27 provided in the outside of the first projecting part 25, and a seal material 23 provided at the apex of the first projecting part 25 to stick the element substrate 10 to the counter substrate 20.
