<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet handling device for binding a second sheaf of sheets without binding and discharging previously stacked sheets, and an image forming apparatus having it. <P>SOLUTION: Sheets sequentially transported to a sheet stacking means are moved in the direction of width by a sheet moving means 407, and selectively abutted on first and second alignment members 416a, 416b provided at both end parts of the sheet stacking means in the width direction orthogonal to the sheet transport direction, thereby forming a sheaf of aligned sheets. After that, the sheaf of aligned sheets are bound by first and second binding means provided at both end parts of the sheet stacking means.
