PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print without rotating an image once laid out and drawn even when it is necessary to rotate drawing data because a page direction designated on the basis of the description of a described document of an object described hierarchically by a predetermined format is different from the designation of a paper direction. SOLUTION: A printing apparatus is provided, which forms a layout of the object to the medium for every page along with carrying out coordinate conversion of a predetermined position of the object on the basis of a direction conversion instruction if the direction conversion instruction is given because the page direction is different from a medium direction when a layout formation instruction is made. If the direction conversion instruction is given when a printing execution instruction is made, the object is acquired on the basis of the layout for every stored page, and at the same time, the acquired object is drawn and printed on the basis of the direction conversion instruction. Thus it becomes unnecessary to form drawing data which is conformed to the designated medium direction by further carrying out direction conversion of the drawing data after laid out and drawn in the designated page direction when the page direction is different from the paper direction.
