PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vulcanized foamed rubber molded item which has a surface smoothness as high as or higher than a non-foamed vulcanized rubber molded item, and has excellent mechanical strength characteristics, an excellent compression permanent distortion resistance, and an antiwear quality, and a non-foamed vulcanized rubber molded item which has a surface smoothness higher than a conventional non-foamed vulcanized rubber molded item and has excellent mechanical strength characteristics, an excellent compression permanent distortion resistance, and an antiwear quality and to provide preparing processes of these. SOLUTION: In this molded item, the amount of sulfur atoms located on its surface is at least 1.2 times of the sulfur atoms located on the cross-sectional surface when it is cut up to 1.0mm depth perpendicularly from the original surface. In this preparing process, liquid droplets or mists containing an elemental material of the group 6 of the periodic table rather than oxygen are attached on the surface of a non-vulcanized rubber molded item containing elemental sulfur and/or a sulfur compound as a crosslinking agent, and then vulcanization or vulcanization-foaming is carried out on this composition.
