PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polypeptide specific to cancer, capable of being used in diagnosing and treating a tumor, and to provide an antibody against the polypeptide. SOLUTION: A polynucleotide and a polypeptide SMAGP (small cell adhesion glycoprotein) are excessively expressed in a tumor cell and scarcely expressed in a normal cell, respectively, and therefore they are each specific to the tumor. Thus, a nucleotide of the SMAGP is effectively used in diagnosing the tumor. Further, the antibody against the SMAGP polypeptide is useful as a remedy for treating the tumor, to say nothing of having a value in diagnosing the tumor. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
