PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine where the imbalance of laundry articles is optimally detected and corrected according to the degree of the imbalance. SOLUTION: In a rotation starting sequence in the case of spin-drying, while controlling a rotation drum 1 to rotate constantly with a first number of rotation N1 for a first prescribed time in imbalance detection at a first step in a low-speed region, when the number of rotation detected by a number of rotation detecting means included in a rotation control means 35 becomes equal to or higher than a second number of rotation N2 higher than N1, the rotation starting sequence is shifted to a correction sequence. In starting from a third number of rotation N3 to a fourth number of rotation N4 through the area of the number of rotation of resonance in unbalance detection at a second step in a high-speed region, when a current value equivalent to a torque detected by a current detection means 27 becomes equal to or higher than a first threshold by a second prescribed time, the rotation starting sequence is shifted to the correction sequence.
