PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely and properly perform the air purging only by executing the air purging by the minimum number of times under any condition. SOLUTION: In this air purging method executed after pipe replacement work at an upstream side with respect to a common vertical pipe 3 in a gas distribution plant to a collective housing, the air purging is executed by exhausting the air from an exhaust part 5 for purging mounted on a new pipe 2A while pressing and supplying a gas for purging from a branched part at a downstream side with respect to the new pipe 2A, the air purging is executed in a state that the common vertical pipe 3 just at a downstream side of the branched part is closed in executing the air purging at the branched part near the downstream side with respect to the new pipe 2A, or the air purging is executed while pressing and supplying the gas for purging to the common vertical pipe 3 at the downstream side with respect to the branched part.
