An optical mirror comprises a reflecting surface and a backing plate interconnected by a supporting frame consisting of trough-like elements the longitudinal edges of which are fused to the backs of the adjacent troughs at an external angle which is at least 90 degrees, the ends of the troughs being joined to the reflecting surface and backing plate. The troughs may be semi-circular in section and joined together as shown in Fig. 3. Alternatively, the troughs may be part oval or part hexagonal in section. Holes or notches may be provided in the trough elements for equalizing the air pressure between the sections of the supporting frame. |
