PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk recording device and a disk recording method, which can efficiently utilize the recording capacity of a disk, by selecting the writing destination on the disk, according to the size of a title to be recorded. SOLUTION: In the state in which the reserved recording of the title is requested, the size of the region for recording the title is compared with those of free areas on the disk, and the free area for recording the title is selected (17, S4-S8, and S11). In the state in which the direct recording of the title is requested, the free area having the maximum size is selected, as the recording destination for the title (17, S4, S10, and S11).
