PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device for stably operating a light reception IC without widening a flexible printed-circuit board, and to provide a method for manufacturing the optical pickup device. SOLUTION: One end section of the flexible printed-circuit board 12 is stuck to a holder 9, and the light reception IC is mounted to one end section. The holder 9 is adhered to the side of a housing 1 of the optical pickup device. The other end section of the flexible printed-circuit board 12 is connected to a mother board 10 provided at the housing 1. An extension piece 21 is integrally provided with the flexible printed-circuit board 12 from the IC mounting section of the light reception IC on the flexible printed-circuit board 12. At least one of a ground line or a power line is provided at the extension piece 21. The ground line or the power line of the extension piece 21 is connected to the ground line or the power line of the mother board 10.
