PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer which can be made ready to print in an early stage without carrying out fruitless printing even in the case of being used from a state that a printing head is cooled down. SOLUTION: In the case where an environmental temperature of the printing head 5 is judged to be lower than an proper temperature thereof with a temperature sensor 13, a delivery speed of recording form 9 is lowered to a set value or lower of a carrying speed, and a means for increasing a time width of an electric pulse to be applied to the printing head 5 exceeding an initially set printing period.
