PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication system and a method which contain a demodulator with performance which is not influenced by modulation index. SOLUTION: The communication system (20) contains a first device (25) which transmits a modulated signal and a second device (28) which receives the modulated signal. The second device (28) contains a first demodulator (205) and a second demodulator (210). The first demodulator (205) receives the modulated signal, generates first demodulation output and can perform a first demodulation technique. The second demodulator (210) receives the modulated signal, generates second demodulation output and can perform a second demodulation technique different from the first demodulation technique. The second demodulation technique can be different from the first demodulation technique. The second device (28) can also contain an error detection module (620) which can perform bit error detection based on the first modulation output and the second demodulation output.
